Henrico County, VA wraps around Richmond on three sides, which means life here can look like almost anything you want it to — riverfront mornings on the East End, shopping and new construction out west, and the city’s restaurants and culture never more than a short drive away.
I’m Lauren Gerardi, a REALTOR® with Liz Moore & Associates. If you’re weighing homes for sale in Henrico County, VA, here’s a feel for life across this big, varied county.
A county built around the city
Established in 1611 as one of Virginia’s original shires, Henrico now surrounds Richmond and is home to more than 330,000 residents. I-64, I-95, and I-295 cross the county, so downtown — and everything in it — is rarely far.

Two sides, two moods
The West End — Short Pump, Glen Allen, and beyond — leans newer, with mixed-use centers and a wide range of single-family homes and townhomes. The East End mixes established post-war neighborhoods with new subdivisions and riverfront living at communities like Rocketts Landing, where dining and the James River are steps away.
Parks, trails, and river days
Henrico runs more than 40 parks. You can walk or bike the 52-mile Virginia Capital Trail toward Williamsburg, spend an afternoon at Dorey Park, or wander the grounds at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. River access near Rocketts Landing makes warm-weather weekends easy.

Homes in Henrico
Across the county, Henrico real estate covers nearly every budget and style — which is exactly why it helps to have someone who knows its submarkets block by block.
Schools and the commute
Henrico is served by Henrico County Public Schools; you can verify zones and ratings through the district. With Richmond at its center and interstates on every side, the whole metro is within reach.
